My parents stopped by today and mom told Olivia the story of her birth...and how they were involved! Rob was in Iraq in 2003, I was living in Fort Stewart, Georgia, (just me and little Hannah) a ten hour drive from my family in Ohio. I was so nervous (Rob had been in Baghdad for months, everyone looking for Saddam) and thought I was going to have to deliver alone, without any support. So, my parents drove down May 23rd and stayed with us...then, May 24th Rob called and said he was in Kuwait they WERE sending him home! I really didn't think they would. So May 25th he arrived and my due date was the 26th, but I was quite happy and relaxed and Olivia waited until the 29th to make her appearance. My parents had to leave on the 30th. I was so blessed...that Rob made it home, my parents were there to help babysit Hannah and everything went so smoothly!
Hannah bought this double slide Polly Pocket set for Olivia a few weeks ago with her own money (it was $10). She gave it to Olivia first thing in the morning! They played with it for a few hours...I think the water is what's really so much fun!!!
Yesterday Hannah picked out this lovely bouquet while picking up our CSA share...week #2. We got some new additions: rainbow chard and deep red beets and orange beets! 4 heads of lettuce this week, too!
That's the compost bin Rob made (it's on a "spit" so we can turn it)!
Our little farm is doing fine (you'll see red potatoes in the back, peas, carrots, green beans, onions, tomatoes, lettuce, pumpkins, we also have corn, sweet potatoes, brussel sprouts)!
250-gallon container Rob bought to collect rain water...we either fill the watering cans or attach the hose and water the garden! Last year we used 60-gallon barrels, but this HUGE thing is awesome!

Wow, awesome little farm! I'm a bit green with envy. *sigh* Someday...
Your girls are so lovely. Great garden you have!! We have a compost pile, too. But, ours is just that, a pile. It's hidden from view behind ornamental grasses. Makes your dirt so good! ;)
What a great story! God always provides for us. What great pictures. Teh garden is looking so nice.
Sooo jealous of the garden...happy for you, honestly--looks terrific! Kudos to all and the dedicated work put into it.
Btw, we have the same Polly Pocket pool-thingy. MK loves it!
After reading the previous comments, I think we are all a little jealous of your backyard! I would love to have a garden (my hubby and I were just talking about that tonight--- next summer it WILL happen, and I won't be pregnant then). I would also love a rain barrel like that. Maybe that will come at the same time as the garden.
What beautiful memories! How special it must be for Olivia to hear that story from your parents!
So jealous of the garden!! Ours was doing well until almost 3 straight weeks of rain. Now everything is waterlogged or infested with some type of bug! :( So enjoy all of those fresh pickin's for us too!!!
Love the compost bin and rain 'barrel'. I remember a few years ago when I first saw one of those. My immediate reaction was, 'ummmm. . .duh'. Why haven't we been using these for the past gazillion years!
I had so much fun catching up on your blog after being away for a month. Love the garden!
