Since we're homeschooling, I am going to take the girls photos in lieu of school photos. 
Yesterday, while Hannah was taking Russian lessons with Varvara, Olivia and I went on a walk and I took her photo in various spots I had seen and thought would make neat backgrounds!
The next one is my favorite, because I can see all the details, her one new adult tooth up top, her naturally highlighted hair, pretty blue eyes...

We babysat my little nephew, Isaac, for a couple of hours yesterday afternoon! He was such a delight, smiling a lot and watching us, making eye contact, holding our fingers and toys. He's 3 months old now. Here he is by one of our homegrown pumpkins!

The kids all enjoyed trying to use the apple picker, although the branches were laden down with heavy apples...at their level.
Sept. 30th, 2009, at about 10pm Aunt Ginger passed away. She was my mom's older sister...73 years old. Married to my dear Uncle Bob for 53 years, please pray for him...this is all very hard for him. Look at this sweet photo of the two of them:
I have lots of great memories of her. She was an awesome gardener...she grew some of the most beautiful dahlias. She loved growing vegetables, entered the NY State Fair and won numerous blue ribbons! She painted pumpkins and gourds around this time of year. Whenever we went to Rochester, NY, she would be the one to organize a picnic or cookout at her house. When I was little, she would usually send my sisters and I pretty nightgowns for Christmas presents. May she be with God, peaceful and happy!
This afternoon, we played UNO together. These are such a fun set...super small cards!!! Tomorrow, we're planning on going apple picking, then Rob is going to get the chimney all ready for fires...it's been getting chilly at night.

Mini-reunion...we had a great time together...hard to believe it's been 10 years since our college days! Not much has changed...we are still the same in so many ways!
I've been trying to get all the photos from Yellowstone in my scrapbook. Doing all 8.5 x 11" pages these days. How do you like that gigantic polka-dot "i"?
That's the book I'm delving into next...I'm currently taking a class called "Exceptional Children" every Tues and Thurs, so I drive straight there from the nursery school. Then, go home to my dear husband (who has been cleaning house...XOXOXO) and homeschooling our girls and when he leaves for work, I take over.
Seems like we know so many people who've had a baby recently...here, Olivia is holding 7-day old Bridget, her newest cousin. Saturday, my Aunt Sarah had a baby boy, Gideon. And tomorrow, we go to visit my college roommate, who had her son, Andrew 2 weeks ago...

When we got our boxes from K12, Hannah said "This is like Christmas!" She opened up box after box of text books, paints & brushes, oil pastels, prints (she's holding one of St. Basil's cathedral for her art class), goggles, a beaker, magnifying glass, compass, globe, tambourine...Olivia got a slide flute, a scale, math counters, books (Tales of Amanda Pig, Sylvester and the Magic Pebble, Frog and Toad, etc.), dry erase markers and board...and more. This week, we looked at paintings (the Mona Lisa by Leonardo Da Vinci, Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh, for example) by several artists and talked about what makes a portrait. Then, the girls each had to do a self-portrait. I highly recommend this homeschooling curriculum...we LOVE it, so far!
So sad...we discovered our monarch butterfly dead in the potted mum on our front porch. I wonder if she tried to fly and got trapped in there, or what? I think we learned some good things about life and death, throughout this whole experience.
Just to let you know, I had a follow-up appointment today with the surgeon. My 3 little incisions from the appendectomy are healing up nicely. The doctor took off the steri-strips...no stitches at all. Unfortunately, while on amoxicillin, it's common to develop a yeast infection...so I'm dealing with that right now. Everyday I feel better. This has made me more sympathetic towards others who are undergoing surgery! I thank God I'm alive. I read this article by Dr Mercola on the appendix...very interesting! It is not a useless organ.
