Olivia has been sick the past few days. She ran a
fever of 102 and now has fever blisters or cold sores on her lips! It makes it hard for her to eat. She's been using a
straw to drink, even used a straw to eat tomato soup...
It's really fall here...the trees started changing color here in Ohio. It's also Canadian Thanksgiving today. My sister, Mary, and her husband live in Ottawa, Canada. My other sister and her son, Isaac, came over and we baked cookies. To make this orange frosting, I used just 2 ingredients:
Isn't it a lovely color? Happy fall to you.
What an excellent idea for orange frosting! Very cute cookies. I hope Olivia improves soon - it must be hard to eat cookies through a straw!
ReplyDeleteCame across your blog randomly... but a fever, general un-wellness and mouth sores can be hand-foot-mouth disease. No treatment... just rest and time! My kids used chloreseptic spray for the sores. It helped the eating process. Watch out for dehydration. The sores make you not want to drink much, and that can lead to nastier problems!! Hope she gets better soon, and I loved the cookie idea!! :) Thanks for sharing.
ReplyDeletePoor Olivia--hope she feels better soon. Cool idea with the carrot juice frosting!
ReplyDeleteThose cookies DO look tasty and the color is amazing!
ReplyDeletePoor Olivia, I hope she feels better soon; you can really see it is her eyes, how tired and worn she is. Have you ever tried an epsom salt bath when people are sick? It is really good on a lot of levels, but that is what I especially do for Katherine, and it seems to work wonders.
Thanks, everyone for your help...she's feeling better. Her eyes were quite red, bloodshot, I'm sure it was the fever. Her lip blisters are scabbed now, but it's still hard to eat. I felt so foolish when I realized that tomato soup was NOT something she should eat...as it has acid in it. Yesterday, I rode my bike to Trader Joe's and got her yogurt, kefir, spinach and celery (which we put cream cheese on...one of her fav snacks)!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad to hear your daughter is on the mend, Marfa. I too, am in love with the carrot juice frosting, and will have to try it soon :o)
