Lussekater

In honor of St. Lucia, whose day we celebrated yesterday, we made lussekater.  They rose nicely.  This is the recipe we used, although I didn't have any saffron, nor raisins, sadly.
Still, they are scrumptious:
Our tree is starting to drop needles.  I believe it's getting enough water, but the heat from woodstove dries out the branches.
We got a little snow and a lot of ice, it's very pretty.  I walked to our neighbors to give them something and took this photo from their place.
The Christmas decorations are lovely at the Fenimore Art Museum.  There was a gallery with Marc Brown's illustrations.  He wrote the Arthur children's books.
Mom arrived last Wed. for an old friend's funeral. She did a lot of crafts and read books to the boys.  She's headed home today.

Icy and cold

It's 15 F this morning.  The sun is shining on the ice glazed grass.  No snow here currently, but rain turned into ice Saturday.  We still went to church and our 6 year old son served in the altar. They found a robe for him to wear that was his size. Thanks to Olivia for taking photos!

One of our favorite monks was ordained to the priesthood!
Our kitten Snowflake and Sandy are back together.  It seems like they didn't remember each other and were hissing.
I sewed the stars, he connected the dots in the correct order to make a constellation.
This is Weaver Lake.  The bright blue sky reflected in the water contrast against the warm brown tones of the grasses beautifully.
Here's a photo my cousin Mary Lynn took of the 6 of us in front of the tree we cut down from our yard!
I hope you have a nice week!

Family

All 6 of us have been together in our new place in upstate NY. Snowflake the kitten likes Hannah and Olivia. My cousin, Mary Lynn, came for the weekend, too.  She took a photo of us by the pine tree we cut down Thursday from our property.  Olivia decorated the tree with tinsel.  George pulled ornaments from the box and held each one and exclaimed, "So beautiful!"
Cooperstown has a pretty little house, wee sleigh and tree in the town square.
Stagecoach coffee, which is just behind the lampost, became one of our favorite places a few years ago when we stayed in a house on Lake Otsego while on vacation here.
Painting, fires in the wood stove, a 2 day game of Monopoly, a trip to Fly Creek cider mill, lots of tea, coffee, hiking, a bonfire in our back, as well as visiting my father's grave after church yesterday!
Hope you have a good week!
