Back and forth

Seriously, this weather is crazy.  72 F yesterday and high 37 F predicted for tomorrow.  My mom came to watch Olivia's colorguard show for a competition on Sat.  Basically, they are filming their performance and sending it in to the judges, they send back a "score" and commentary.
We had a frost Monday morning.  My parsley seedlings were in icy dirt, as it had rained the day before.  They came inside and warmed up and will survive.  I have a bunch of other seedlings:  kale, cilantro, carrots, radish, spinach, and marigold, which are growing little by little.
Sale on this jam until April 6th!  I bought some today.
Our oldest daughter, Hannah, turned in the keys today to the apartment she had rented!  It was a nice place, wood floor, windows that let in the sun, but so much money!

Shrimp chowder

I always buy a raw shrimp. Usually it is $4.99 for a pound at Aldi in the frozen section.  To make chowder, I saute one chopped onion, carrots, celery and then a bunch of potatoes, add water, bring to boil and cook until tender, then add the raw shrimp, a can of coconut cream, and a tablespoon of Better Than Bouillon.
You can add curry powder, or omit shrimp, add beans.  Everything is just to taste, using what we have for soup, rarely measuring any ingredient.

Fresh

One of our daughters gives us these, from a juicery where she works!
I'm selling these bracelets!  $12 for the adult size or $9 for the child size.  I have a venmo account (it's:  mama_marfa, if you're interested) and also accept cash and Paypal.
It's been quite a week.  Slow.  Prayers, prostrations with my little boys is always fun, they thrive on the physical actions.  However, we seem to have another cold, runny noses and temptations to judge who it was who got us sick.  In reality, we need to just boost our immune system, so we can get sick and heal.
Used spirulina powder this morning in my simple breakfast...it has many health benefits that I was just reading about, energy boost, can help prevent cancer as it increases antibody production, anti-inflammatory, and it may be the most nutrient dense food!
Last week, the boys and I went to the art museum with my mom and one daughter, who didn't have school on Thursday.  The week before, we went with our other daughter.  It was nice to be out and about.  We had discussions about nudity after looking at a beautiful white marble sculpture of Eve.  Lately, I'm feeling there are a lot of things to discuss, as an individual, or society, is it right?  What are we doing?
Rain these past few days, and happy mini daffofils in our yard.

Knitting for spring

Soft pima cotton yarn... and this color my oldest daughter picked out, definitely a spring color.  Our mini daffodils have buds on them.  Also, we harvested about 2 pounds of carrots yesterday!  We were happily surprised they lasted over the winter with all the cold and snow.
Sunshine the past few days!  A hike with George's Godmother, who gave us these delicious Ojai tangerines grown on a farm in California.  They are the BEST we've had!  She shared some with us last year, too, better than store-bought oranges.
Olivia had a colorguard competition this past Saturday!  We went and cheered her on!!
I started reading The Aviator by Eugene Vodolazkin after reading Gretchen Joanna's review.  It's by the same author who wrote Laurus.  So far, a man wakes up in a hospital bed and has lost his memory.  He is writing stories he remembers, as a five year old having tea with his grandmother, sitting on an embroidered pillow and stirring the tea using a small spoon.

Carving a spoon

After seeing wooden spoon tutorials, like this one, I decided to give it a try... This is from an oak tree that my mom had cut down 6 months ago.
Pizza from one day last week.  Made with a 2 ingredient pizza crust!  First time I made it was a few weeks ago and we all really liked it. Also, below is a page from a book by Brene Brown that is so good!
Olivia started working at Starbucks 3 weeks ago and gets a pound of coffee FREE each week!  I'm not a big coffee gal, tea is my favorite, so she's been giving these to family + friends.
Celebrated a birthday with my nephew and family last week.  Such singing!
