Local seafood

We had Alaskan Tanner crab + Rockfish at Bridge's Seafood yesterday...and it was so very scrumptious!
George really liked it.  20 months old and he's such an adventurous boy, in eating and all things!
I think we did a good job!
We hiked to the falls here.  My camera battery didn't make it.  But WE did.  Just a mile hike there.  Perfect length.  I love all the green leaves, moss and birch trees.
Then, we went to Hatcher Pass!  What an amazing drive.  I'd recommend it for everyone.  I had charged up the camera battery, thankfully.  We drove as high as we could, got out to make snowballs, then hiked up.
It was really beautiful!  There was a small wedding going on there.
It started to rain, so we decided to hike down.  You can see the blue lake down there.  We didn't reach the summit, but the view was amazing.
Below is one of my favorite photos.  If you click and zoom in, Hannah + Olivia are visible, and Rob is walking out to them with George in his arms.

Eklutna

Our family of 6.  I want to edit this photo and brighten it up, but can't right now.
This church was built in the 1870s.  Hewn out of spruce trees like a cabin.
St. Varnava, a Serbian who was from Indiana.
Looking out.
These beautiful spirit houses cover the graves and are also adorned with crosses.  It's a combination of the native + Orthodox Christian traditions.
Hearts on this cross:
What a great message from the priest (click to enlarge):
This is the new church, built in 1962.
On Eklutna Lake, a 30 min. drive east of the churches.

Anchorage

We went to Snow City cafe in Anchorage with Nic + Jessica (so thankful for their hospitality).  Look at those eggs Benedict on Alaskan red king crab cakes with hashbrowns.  $17 for his meal.
Along Route 1, we stopped at Beluga Point and the waterways...it was just beautiful!
Smelling flowers, pollen on his nose and playing.
Salmon jerky!  In a town called Indian southeast of Anchorage, there's a shop called Indian Valley Meats.
On the way to Portage Glacier.  We put our hands in the lake from the melted glacial waters.  Brrr!
So grateful for the sun today!  It's been cloudy and rain expected the next couple days.
