Fishing and life

Yesterday, Paul went fishing, we've been spending more time near the water, a lake or river...
This is the Roebling bridge that connects Ohio & Kentucky, it was recently renovated, but originally built in 1865 by John A. Roebling and is the prototype for the Brooklyn bridge, which was completed in 1883 and his son Washington Roebling was chief engineer.
This little girl on the right is now 1 year old! my littlest niece!! That's her 12 year old sister & her oldest sister will be 14 in a few days.
And another niece.  Today is this sunny girl's 7th birthday!  August is the biggest month for birthdays in our family.
Cousin fun.
We picked Olivia up from band camp & got to see the show.  She's in the center with a flag and did such a great job!
The theme of the show is "the British are coming!"
There is a Beatles song, of course!
Our oldest niece is 27.  We had a lovely time at their wedding reception last week!  She and her husband were married in June in Alaska & are moving to Alaska!!
It was also my 42nd birthday!  My girls gave me each thoughtful gifts.  A Navajo turquoise ring from my husband.
This beautiful rose bush was from my mom!
Watching big sis work with band & colorguard from the bleachers.
The first week of August is international breastfeeding week!
Newish logo for Virgil's.  The man's beard looks much more trimmed, his hair is cut, the girl's holding a puppy instead of a doll and a few other little changes, but to be perfectly honest the root beer itself has lost some of its unique flavors.
Back to school shopping. I love getting such great prices on crayons and pens, glue, paper, et cetera.
Today, we are going to have a busy day.  Art class is my highlight for the day.  I'll be making popsicle stick frames with the children, for a 4 x 4 photo or mini work of art. Life is good.

Tea time

Today, I'm just staying home.  My mom is preparing for a tea party this afternoon.  I wanted to go and be with all the nieces & nephews.  We have one car now (the Subaru was totalled in a car accident July 6th.  Everyone was fine, thank God. We had actually given it to Hannah June 6th, so just 1 month). The boys both slept poorly last night.  One coughing, one teething.  This is life.
My nieces built this boat, The Floating Cheese.  Below, are some others that I thought were neat.
My sister who lives in Canada and her family are in town.
Hard to believe a cardboard boat can hold 3 people and do so well!
A gift for a girl in church, a little hand-me-down pet hospital and toy horse, cat and dog.
After church our boys played.
I'm so happy these guys get along so well.
They are the same age for 3 days.  So just a wee bit less than 12 months apart.
And these 2 are 13 months apart.
Last week, my mom had a tea party for my 12 year old niece.  It was on her actual birthday.
Finger sandwiches, watermelon, tea and macarons!
The adults sat here.  Yikes.  My oldest daughter is 18.  She's officially an adult.
The babies.
Just a few minutes after, it rained.
Yesterday, we got our lifetime National Parks pass!  It's FREE for all veterans, so my husband sent his paperwork in last week!

The purple bridge

That's the Purple People Bridge that connects Ohio and Kentucky.  You can only walk (or ride a bike or scooter or skateboard, etc. across it, no vehicles), and it's purple, well a bit faded by the sun.
 Under part of the bridge!
And the majestic-looking steamboat getting ready for the daily cruises...
We went to the water spray area to cool off...
And ate the lunch we packed.
Pretty flowers!
Ready to head back, but a fun and free outing.
