I use this large slice of an old oak tree to do many things...I laid our harvest of cilantro, beets, potatoes and lettuce on it earlier this week and now, I'm gathering coriander seeds (which is what you get when you let your cilantro flower and then dry)...I will grind up most of them using this mortar and pestle. Today, I added them to a pot of beans.

They do look like fireworks! I've never seen these before. And growing you own coriander seeds... the English summer is even worse than usual this year (midsummer's eve and it's wet & blowing a gale) so this sounds fantastically exotic!
I don't think I knew this tree was called a Mimosa... Here we call them Cat's Whiskers! As a child, I liked to pull the flower heads off and twirl them against my face...so soft :)
As a child, mimosa trees were my favorite. Those pink fluffy flowers were so girly, and a little Dr Suess.

What a lovely tree to have in your garden. Not just that it smells and looks beautiful, but also the perfect climbing tree. Wonderful flowers.
Oh, I love mimosas! My best friend had one in her yard when I was a kid - it made a good climbing tree for little girls.
